Marketplace
From 11 am to 7 pm, visitors can experience a unique historical market spectacle at the original sites of the Reformation. On the market square in front of the Renaissance town hall, craftspeople will be demonstrating their medieval crafts throughout the day. Period music will not only encourage you to dance, but also to pop into the taverns. Everyone is warmly welcome here. Street performers and jugglers will bring the historic market spectacle to life.
Cranach Court
Directly opposite Wittenberg’s market square lies the Cranach Hof, where honey, ceramics, soaps and wine are on sale. Cranach’s tavern and a fitting musical ensemble lend this small, charming courtyard a medieval atmosphere.
Coswiger Str./Schlossstraße
Starting from the market square once again, it is then just a few steps further to the town church, which was once the church where Luther preached and which houses the famous altar by Lucas Cranach the Elder. You can reach the castle church via Coswiger Straße or Schlossstraße. On this day, both streets become important trade routes along which merchants, travellers and charlatans tout their wares.
Castle Square
When you arrive at the Schlosskirche, you’ll find yourself standing in front of the world-famous Thesentür, which has remained a symbol of the Reformation to this day. The ‘instant photo booth’ promises to provide a very special memento of your day. The studio is located on Schlossplatz and will capture your visit to the Thesentür in a photograph! On Schlossplatz you’ll find another market setting. Our top tip: warm mead served in a clay jug on the last day of October this year! Fresh baked goods and handmade wooden toys are just a small selection of the goods on offer.
Castle Meadow
At the foot of the castle church, many medieval societies from across the region gather, setting up camp on the castle lawn for the day. Immerse yourself in the world of jugglers, musicians and charlatans, and let yourself be enchanted by the extraordinary blend of magic and music.
Weberhof
The Reformation Festival 2025 at the Weberhof in Lutherstadt Wittenberg promises a colourful programme of music, dance and hands-on activities for young and old alike. From the magnificent sounds of the Middle Ages and Irish folk music to spectacular fire shows and traditional competitions such as tug-of-war and log-rolling, there’s plenty of varied entertainment on offer. Throughout the day, craft stalls, hot tubs, culinary delights, creative activities and children’s events invite you to linger.
Experience an unforgettable day of celebration full of joie de vivre, top-class entertainment and a historic atmosphere!
